Big Mantrap is a large (1770 acre),
clear, "rambling" lake with 22 miles of shore line (much of it wild) and several
islands. The lake has an excellent public access and is one of Minnesota's outstanding
Muskellunge fisheries. It also has excellent fishing for Panfish, Bass, and Northern Pike.
The lake is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Bald Eagles nest on the lake, and many
Herons and Loons call the lake their
home. We are located on a narrow, winding part of the lake that connects to multiple
bays in both directions. All the shoreline across from Trail's End is undeveloped
woodlands. It's not uncommon to see deer and other wildlife there drinking from the clear
waters of the lake.
